Sheridan Inn — Inn in Sheridan, WY
Listing details as of Sep 15, 2026
A red-roofed 1893 landmark inn on Sheridan's Main Street, a National Historic Landmark reopened to guests in 2015.
The Sheridan Inn occupies a distinctive Queen Anne-style building at 856 Broadway Street in downtown Sheridan, completed in 1893 for the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad and designed by architect Thomas R. Kimball. Buffalo Bill Cody managed the inn from 1894 to 1896 and is said to have auditioned Wild West Show performers from its long front porch. The building was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1964, and its 22 guest rooms reopened to overnight visitors in 2015 after a lengthy renovation, following roughly fifty years without lodging service. Guest rooms are spread across the original structure, with public spaces that reflect the building's late-19th-century construction rather than a modern hotel layout. The inn sits within easy walking distance of downtown Sheridan's shops and restaurants, and its Broadway Street address places it close to the Bighorn National Forest foothills to the west. Reservations and rates can be arranged directly through the property by phone or through its own website.
