Little Goose Campground — Campground in Big Horn, WY

Listing details as of Sep 14, 2026

A primitive, first-come campground in Bighorn National Forest reached via Red Grade Road southwest of Big Horn, WY.

Little Goose Campground sits about 9.3 miles southwest of the town of Big Horn, Wyoming, reached by following County Road 335 as it becomes Forest Road 26 (Red Grade Road) and then continuing 2.5 miles south on Forest Road 314, the last stretch of which requires a high-clearance or four-wheel-drive vehicle. The campground is a primitive, off-grid site with vault toilets, designated camping spots, and fire rings, but no electricity, running water, or shower facilities, making it a different kind of stay than the developed campgrounds along the Highway 14 corridor. Camping here is first-come, first-served, with no online reservation option, and the site typically operates from June through September depending on snowpack and road conditions. Its Red Grade Road access makes it one of the closer national forest campgrounds to Sheridan itself rather than the more distant Burgess Junction cluster. Questions about current road conditions and site status can be directed to the Tongue Ranger District office in Sheridan.
